In 2011, the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Altoona celebrates 25 years of serving Central Pennsylvania and surrounding areas with the finest inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation programs and services. The hospital operates 80 licensed inpatient beds and has numerous outpatient locations in Altoona, Duncansville, Tyrone, Ebensburg, Bedford and Huntingdon to service our patient's needs in their own community.

The Hospital is the only rehabilitation hospital in the Unites States to hold disease specific program certifications from the Joint Commission in the following four programs: stroke, brain injury, spinal injury and cardiac. In addition to these four core programs, the hospital also specializes in orthopedic, neurological and pulmonary diagnoses.

Each of our patients is cared for by a dedicated, specialized team of professionals –each with an individualized treatment program, coordinated by a rehab physician (physiatrist), to result in our patients receiving the highest possible functional improvements following a surgery or illness.

Our stroke program was recognized as the first HealthSouth Stroke Center of Excellence, east of the Mississippi River in 2004. The hospital and its staff have been recognized with numerous rehab distinctions and awards including the President's Circle Award in 2000, 2002 and again in 2009.
