HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Altoona offers a full range of physical rehabilitation services to meet a variety of patient diagnoses including but not limited to stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic conditions, cardiac, Parkinson’s disease and pulmonary diseases. Patients are treated by a specialized team of health care professionals – each with an individualized treatment program to result in ultimate functional gains. The hospital has six core programs, including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurology, cardiac and orthopedics. Our stroke program was recognized as the first HealthSouth Stroke Center of Excellence east of the Mississippi River in 2004 and again in 2006.
This 70-bed hospital, which opened in 1986, is accredited by The Joint Commission. HealthSouth Altoona also carries the unique distinction of triple-certification from The Joint Commission in stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury.
